# LowerScript

> LowerScript is a free prescription discount card available across eight U.S. states, in English and Spanish. A Basket pricing agent on every homepage takes a ZIP code and a list of medications and prices the whole list at nearby pharmacies, saving up to 80% off the cash price at participating pharmacies (savings vary by medication, dosage and pharmacy). There is no sign-up, no membership, no fees, and no advertising trackers. LowerScript is a prescription discount program — not insurance.

## What it is
- A free pharmacy discount card, usable at participating pharmacies, with no account required to check a price or download the card.
- Prices come from the RxSense pharmacy savings network, which negotiates cash prices directly with pharmacies. The price a person sees is the price they pay at the counter with the card.
- Bilingual throughout: every state has a full Spanish twin site.
- The Basket pricing agent compares the card against a person's insurance or Medicare Part D plan where plan data exists, drug by drug — honest verdicts only, nothing stored.

## Tools on the site
- Basket pricing agent: the hero of every homepage — a chat that takes a ZIP code and one or more medications (plus an optional insurance or Medicare Part D plan) and prices the whole basket at nearby pharmacies, comparing the card against the plan where plan data exists (CMS 2026 Part D data in all eight states; Marketplace plan data in Florida, Texas, Arizona, North Carolina and South Carolina).
- Single-drug price check: a step-by-step tool per state (e.g. /price-check, /tx/price-check, and their /es/ twins) for pricing one medication at a time.
- Per-drug pages: e.g. https://www.lowerscript.com/florida-prescription-prices.
- Card + wallet passes: a free card page per state (/<state>/card) with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes.

## How it makes money (transparency)
- LowerScript is free to use, with no sign-up, no account and no fee to the patient. LowerScript is paid a fee by the pharmacy when the card is used to fill a prescription — that fee comes from the pharmacy, not the patient, and there is no markup added to the price.
- LowerScript does not sell prescription or personal data, and nothing is stored — the card and price tools can be used without creating an account.

## Honest comparison
- LowerScript is not insurance and cannot be combined with insurance or Medicare/Medicaid on the same purchase — but a patient can choose whichever price is lower.
- For some drugs, an insurance copay or a pharmacy's own generic program may be cheaper than the card. LowerScript encourages comparing and using whichever is lowest.

- `find_drug`: resolves a drug name (English or Spanish) to its known forms, strengths, and a typical fill quantity — never substitutes a different drug.
- `get_prices`: cash prices for one drug at up to 10 nearby pharmacies (5-digit ZIP, the eight states above), cheapest first with the full spread, card codes, wallet-pass link, page link, `as_of` timestamp, and disclosure — refuses clinical questions.
- `get_card`: the static LowerScript card and its compliance wording.
- `compare_canada`: for questions about buying medicine from Canada, Canadian vs. U.S. prices, or the October 22, 2026 change. Takes 1-5 medicine names (brand or generic) and a 5-digit ZIP in a supported state; returns each medicine's last-listed Canadian price exactly as captured (shipping not included), today's lowest LowerScript price near the ZIP for the exact same strength and quantity, a verdict (`lower_here`, `lower_canada`, `same`, `compare_packs`, `no_price`), the Medicare-negotiated flag, and links to the state's Canada page. Names not on the list come back in `not_found`. One internal price lookup per call.
- Authentication: none required. An optional bearer token lifts only the daily cap.
- Rate limits: 3 calls/minute, 20/hour, 200/day per caller (2,000/day with a token).
- Every tool carries `readOnlyHint: true`. Cite as LowerScript; every price response carries `as_of`.
